🍃 Kenyan Tea Grades
CTC (Cut, Tear, Curl) Grades — most common in Kenya:
- PF1 (Pekoe Fannings 1) — fine grade, strong brew, popular for tea bags
- PD (Pekoe Dust) — very fine, strong and quick brewing
- D1 (Dust 1) — finest dust grade, intense colour and strength
- BP1 (Broken Pekoe 1) — medium grade, good body and colour
- BPS (Broken Pekoe Small) — smaller broken leaf, strong liquor
- BPSM (Broken Pekoe Small Medium) — medium-fine grade
- PF (Pekoe Fannings) — fine grade for tea bags
- FNGS (Fannings) — very fine, used in tea bags
Orthodox Grades — premium specialty teas:
- OP (Orange Pekoe) — long whole leaf, light and delicate
- FOP (Flowery Orange Pekoe) — high quality with tips
- GFOP (Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe) — golden tips, premium grade
- TGFOP (Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe) — very high tip content
- FTGFOP (Finest Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe) — top specialty grade
